From the Dolomites mountains in Italy and sandstone boulders in Fontainebleau, France to limestone crags in Leonidio, Greece and rockfaces in Zakopane, Poland… Ray has either hiked, via ferrata-ed, multi-pitched, sport-climbed, or bouldered them all.
In the UK itself, he counts Masson Lees Quarry, Wye Valley, Southern Sandstone, Portland and Stanage amongst the many impressive local crags that he has scaled.
With over a decade’s climbing experience under his belt and a performance coach since 2015, Ray is currently coaching at Westway and The Font Climbing centres, where he teaches a variety of sessions targeted at all levels from absolute beginners to performance climbers, and those in between who want to learn new skills and refine their knowledge.
Ray’s national indoor qualifications include:
CWDI - indoor lead coaching
CWDA - indoor abseiling
CWI - indoor top rope climbing and bouldering
BMC - physical training and fundamentals modules
He also holds a Strength and Conditioning qualification; and has solid experience in setting up for outdoor top-roping (bottom-roping), sport lead and multi-pitch climbing.
Raymond is available for private lessons at many centres in London. “I'd be happy to help you learn how to climb better,” he says. “Be it bouldering or rope climbing, get in touch with Social Climber’s Society and we'll start you off on the right foot or hand!”
